Baby shower cake

My sister-in-law asked me to make her niece's baby shower cake.  She is having a boy and wanted the cake decorated in blue camouflage.

This is a 10" round cheesecake lovers with white chocolate cake, covered in vanilla buttercream flavored with just a hint of cheesecake flavoring.

Sweet 16!

I made this cake for my niece who turned 16 this month.  It's a deep dark chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting, and marshmallow fondant.  I used a chocolate marshmallow fondant to create the zebra stripes.  It's blinged out also using fondant.

Because we live a few states apart, I did ship it to her overnight, and I'm happy to report that the cake shipped very well.  The entire package that I sent her was zebra themed.

Graduation season

It is the season to celebrate the achievements of your graduate student.
Whether it's from high school or college,
your graduate deserves to be recognized for all of his or her hard work.

A large two layer sheet cake with decorations that can be kept
as mementos of the graduate's achievement.
This graduation cap's tassel is customized with the
graduate's school's colors, gold, black and yellow.
Made of gumpaste and fondant, the graduate can proudly display this cap
as a reminder of her accomplishments.
The diploma too is a keepsake.
A small customized cake to wish the college bound freshman well
at her chosen institution of higher learning.

Neapolitan rose swirl cake

Who can resist the triple goodness of a Neapolitan dessert?  Whether it is ice cream, coconut candy, or cookies?  In this case, cake!

Just as the outside matches the Neapolitan them, so does the inside with chocolate fudge, strawberry and white almond sour cream layers.

An elegant rose swirl takes this fun dessert up the ladder of sophistication.

Mother's Day Cakes

Today is the day to celebrate mom's world wide (or at least here in America).  I made these cakes for my mom and my mother-in-law.

For my mom, whose favorite flower is the pansy, I created pansies in shades of purple and yellow.  I placed those on top of a pink champagne cake decorated with scrolls.

For my mother-in-law, whose favorite flower is the peony, I made two peonies in pink.  They were placed on a pink lemonade cake.

Both cakes were a hit with these wonderful ladies.

Nutella Shortbbread Cookies

Have you tried Nutella?  I was introduced to it last year.  Oh my.  It is very decadent!  I have to stop myself from eating the whole jar!

Recently I stopped for a cup of chai tea at my local coffee shop.  They are now selling hazelnut chocolate tarts, and while they were good, I knew I could make better!

The shortbread cookie has a delicate crumb, and the is the perfect compliment to the ooey gooey Nutella filling encased within the shortbread.  Drizzled with my favorite semi-sweet chocolate and this treat makes a great afternoon snack.
