Sweet 16!

I made this cake for my niece who turned 16 this month.  It's a deep dark chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting, and marshmallow fondant.  I used a chocolate marshmallow fondant to create the zebra stripes.  It's blinged out also using fondant.

Because we live a few states apart, I did ship it to her overnight, and I'm happy to report that the cake shipped very well.  The entire package that I sent her was zebra themed.

Fashion purse - that's a cake??

I've been wanting to try my hand at a fashion purse cake for a while, but was slightly daunted by the task.  Finally I decided to enter a cake into a local church's bake off, and thought what better way to practice a new skill and new design.
This is a sculpted red velvet cake with white chocolate ganache and marshmallow fondant.  Accents are made with a fondant/gum paste mixture.  This was a lot of fun to make, and the late nights were worth it!

Faced with a tray of these sugar cookies, it may be hard to decide which one to pick.  I won't tell if you take more than one!

Halloween sugar cookies

I really enjoy making sugar cookies, and having a holiday provides a perfect excuse!
These are sugar cookie cutouts topped with a variety of icing options.

The ghosts are covered with marshmallow fondant.  The skulls are covered with modified royal icing.  The pumpkins are covered with buttercream.
