6 Layer Rainbow Cake

Okay, so I must post these pictures, which are of one of the very first cakes I decorated before I even received training.  It is a six layer rainbow cake.  I decorated it for a bible study that was held just after Easter.

  1. I love this cake! I know this post is almost 4 years old, but I just found the picture and love it!!!! How many boxes of cake did you use? Did you use any cardboard/dowels? I want to make a 4 layer cake tomorrow (ninja turtle colors) and don't know how many boxes of cake to use!!!!

  2. It only took two cake mixes (back when they were the 18.5 oz sizes). I split the batter up into the six bowls to make the colors.

No, I did not use a cake board between the layers nor did I use any dowels. Only because I had to clue that I should do that back then. If I were to make this cake again, I'd put a cake board between the third and fourth layers of cake, and put supports in the bottom tier of cake to support the top tier of cake.

  3. Thanks by the way. It was a fun cake to make.
